As I have become a father I sometimes wonder how you did? How did you become a Father when no one was there to show you how? How do you with fear I am sure, you look at your children and commit your life to them when you were dealt abandonment. No Father to teach you work ethic, responsibility, commitment and dedication, or to model perseverance and consistency through tough times. No fathers love to scold in times of correction and give you a reverence for authority, and open arms to ensure you that correction is done out of compassion. In that time in your life when you are looking to for reassurance and validation no father was there. No one to show you that true love is not making the children it is staying with the mother and raising them together. I know our God has been with you for the word of God declares in Psalm 27:10 Psalm 27:10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in. I am so glad that you did not give up on your family but chose to be adopted into another family. In this family the Father saw that you were broken and wrapped his arms around you to show you love. He walked with you through test and trial correcting you along the way as a Father does. He put other fatherly influences in your life to encourage you and let you know that you don’t have to do this alone. He showed you through his relationship with you to not only love your children through giving but through correction. He mentored you to become the Father you are today! As I look at my own life as a Father, I am thankful. Thankful that in the mist of all the anxiety, fear, uncertainty that the role of Father brings you dug in, and allowed the word to make you a father, and one Fathered by God! I was fortune to have a father that was not perfect, but rather one being perfected. To my dad Arthur Banks, I have watched you for years and have quietly learned and grown through your example. Words cannot express my gratitude and love for your courage! I pray I continue the legacy began by you of being a perfected Father as I have also submitted to being Fathered by our God! I have learned much I have been mentored by many great men and wonderful examples, but I am most grateful for 3 in particular. I would like to wish a happy Father’s day to them 1. My God, 2. Keith Moon (My wife & my father, {we don’t have in laws}), and Arthur Banks! To all I pray that God showers down blessings on all the real Fathers! Happy Fathers day
