As I have been telling you for a while, this is the intent of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). It is to dismantle private practice, and substitute it with huge conglomerates where doctors become employees and they are incentivized to ration care. It is becoming quite difficult for patients to get the care they need and the referrals necessary. Of course this is all in the name of cost containment , people have a dollar value that cannot be exceeded. I am seeing this every day now with subspecialty care, the waiting lists are getting longer and longer. My own Family Practice doctor has sent me the dear patient letter last week informing me that in order to provide better care to her patients, she is now part of a local community hospital. Actually the truth is the opposite: the change is providing comfort to the doctor, who will have to worry much less about herself. Believe me I am not judging, I completely understand where these doctors are coming from, some days I contemplate the option my self, but then I quickly snap out of it because this is wrong, and it will hurt patient care. Of course I will change doctor, but before choosing one I will ask where he or she stands. I want my doctor to care about me and not about the bottom line of a hospital CEO. Please stay informed and talk to your doctor especially if you are on Medicare or Medicaid. If you have a problem, make your voice heard and contact your representative. People and their medical needs should come first.
