As I head to bed, I want to share my gratitude for a day of healing. Yesterday, I witnessed some behaviors that I have spent every day of my life helping to prevent. I was shaken. I did not sleep last night wondering what I, as a community member, as a KSC parent and as a KSC alum, could have done to prevent what happened in Keene last night. I have already shared a few thoughts with KSC leaders. I will share others in the days ahead. But, today, Sue and I headed to Keene early in the morning to join up with several hundred other people, including our daughter, to help clean up the neighborhoods around Keene State. It was, for me, a healing, community-building experience. And, I think the students were pleased to see a few parents and alums there working alongside them to not only repair the damage caused last night, but also the colleges image. Then, Sue, Laryssa and I left there to join my parents, two of my sisters and a brother wed not seen for about 15 years, as well as partners, children and grand-children for a family meal. Today was definitely the yin to yesterdays yang.
