As I sat here, staring at my notebook, twirling my pencil trying - TopicsExpress

As I sat here, staring at my notebook, twirling my pencil trying to come up with a theme for my next work, I realized that in the last 10 minutes I did not have a single original thought. My head was filled with nonsense from movies, books, and things other people have said and a thought did, in fact, come to me: How many people walk around mindlessly with such meaninglessness as this? How many of us actually realize this? Is this what has become of American creativity? We walk around looking for others to lead; to come up with the next big idea; to save us from the victimization to which we seem to have resigned ourselves. The problem is this: when EVERYONE is looking for a leader, none will emerge until someone finally stops looking for a leader and clears his/her mind of this garbage of consumerism long enough to have an original thought. Now we can quibble over the possible illusion of the original thought, as we are influenced by so many things, but lets not play that game and start accepting that we must no longer wade in our own self-loathing. If those of us who wish to decide issues based on moral-integrity, we must start doing so before those with no conviction make those decisions for us. Perhaps we are too late and have already elected such people, but we still have the ability to change these things. Do not be fooled be rhetoric and fancy words, as Truth resides in the simple, not the complex. Please, turn off the T.V., turn off the radio and allow Truth to be revealed through silent reflection and meditation.
