As I scroll down this page and surf other social media sites, I am struck by the anger expressed toward our school division. In particular, the superintendent. And when I add it to the long list of negligence and/or educationally irresponsible actions (DOJ, financial issues, safety concerns) I have to stop and wonder what is wrong with our School Board members who never, ever seem to question Dr. Walts. But instead, pat him on the back and extend his contract for years to come. When will the school board hold him accountable for anything? When will they say enough is enough? How many times does the DOJ have to investigate our school division before the board says enough? How much money has to be wasted on poor decisions (todays cost of accidents and repairs for instance)? When a state representative has to call and ask why his community was put in danger today, thats a red flag. (A handicap bus was in a ditch today!!) When board members have to publicly apologize for the actions of the superintendents, they need to be asking themselves, Is this the right person for the job? How much longer will our children be made to pay for large classroom sizes and poor curriculum choices? How much longer will our county be made to look like fools in the media? How will parents trust that their children are safe and the top priority? School Board members, where are you? What exactly are you doing to oversee PWCS leadership?
