As I scrolled down my Facebook news feed this past week, it became glaringly obvious to me that the only people who felt compelled enough to post stuff on Gaza are the very same people who are inextricably connected to Gaza either by race or religion. It appears (and I could be wrong) that the rest couldnt give a monkeys about it. Literally only one person (not inextricably linked to Gaza) out of a staggering 430 friends on Facebook has touched upon this issue and that was Paul Poozy Faloozy. His parents obviously did a good job with him! I hate to make this depressing assumption, but it really does seem like nobody else is paying attention. Why does it appear so? Do we blame the media coverage? Or are people simply too busy? Too desensitized? Too absorbed in their own lives and problems? Distracted perhaps? Even brainwashed? Or worst of all, just couldnt give a damn? In their defense, why should people care? There are people dying all over the world, whats so important about Gaza? Difficult questions which will probably only ever be answered by future generations who look back at us in their history books (or iPad holograms) and wonder: Why were they so dormant?
