As I sit here on this pic nic table at dusk watching my husband and youngest daughter ride horses Im taken back 18 yrs ago September 17, 1996 at this same time of day I was sitting outside doing some heavy thinking ...little did I know that in the next 2 hours it would become the worst day of my life , I was about to find out terrible news! This night around 9 pm I went to town as I came to Campbells Creek rd & hwy 49 I came upon a horrible accident , setting there in traffic as I was flagged thru I realize its my sisters car, as I stopped and ran across the hwy trying to get to her I was stopped by several deputies who knew I was her sister and I was detained bc they didnt want me to see what had happen I knew by thee actions she was gone, her and my nephew as well as her current boyfriend ... Everything inside of me hurt my whole childhood flashed thru my head I wasnt ready to say goodbye to them I screamed to the top of my lungs and begged God to wake me from this nightmare! The next few days was like a dream I couldnt wake up , I was dying inside. My worst nightmare had came true My life changed forever my heart would never heal and to this day is hasnt ! I made a promise to her that I would keep her memory alive for as long as I live that Id never let them be forgotten and I wont The only thing that keeps me goin is that I know Ill see her again some day, Ill walk those streets of gold or should I say DANCE them with her! She was the loudest , funniest most outgoing dancing singing craziest person I knew who always had a huge smile on her face! My nephew was the sweetest 23 month old ever and I adored him! I love you both and I miss you more than you could EVER imagine Paula & Mitchell .... Til we meet again some sweet day I pray I have filled your shoes as I know you would have mine , you would be so proud of your children & son & daughter in law & SIX beautiful grand babies! I know you are watching over them!
