As I sit here this morning in the quietness of the house (which is a rare thing) I am thinking back to 8 years ago. We were waking up in Guatemala, bags were packed and we were heading to the airport for the long awaited day of going HOME. I had no idea that this day would be the beginning of such a marvelous journey. For those that dont know, Grant, our 8year old son is from Guatemala. A small country below Mexico that is extremely poor, whose culture is different from ours, but holds a special place in my heart. I am forever grateful for his biological mother. Who loved Grant (he had a different name in Guatemala) so very much she wanted him to have a better life, a life she had only heard of, a life that she could only dream would come true for one of her children. Whom I am sure her heart broke the day she saw him for the final time. A mothers love is like no other, a difficult but selfless choice. This journey has been nothing what I thought it would be. Grant does things different that the average child. He may process differently, react differently, play differently, speak differently and he definitely LOVES differently!!! No he probably wouldnt fit into most peoples normal category, BUT GOD, I love those words!!! If you know anything about our family, you know..... As for me and my house, we WILL serve The Lord! So, when I see, BUT GOD, I am confident that God IS doing incredible, over the top, above what we can think, ask, or imagine things!!! BUT GOD, has stored up blessings, callings and an anointing on Grants life. Grants life was given to change how people love. I know the vision God has given me for Grants life, and it has to be God, because in the natural, it probably couldnt happen......BUT GOD is supernatural, and can and will do SUPERNATURAL things!!! So, one day when you hear Grant leading others in worship, and using his words in prayer and song to change the atmosphere for God almighty to move and change lives, you remember BUT GOD!!! So today we celebrate GRANTS GOTCHA day!!! Yes, we have cake and yes we have gifts, and YES my heart is forever changed by this precious child. This same child, that asked last night, for the first time ever, what adopted means!!! We had the most amazing conversation. His love and trust in The Lord blows my kind. He told me the entire story of Moses leading Gods people out of Egypt. He told me how God called Moses to do something that Moses thought he wasnt qualified for, BUT GOD thought differently!!! Oh, how I love this kid!!! So the next time you see Grant, and you see something different about him, you better believe its a GOD thing. He uses people that are different, HE calls it set apart, I call it I AM STOKED about Grants future!!!!! Happy Gotcha Day Grant Beatty Shriver!! Mommy loves you over the top!!!
