As I strolled in one of the blood-stained Narok District Hospital’s wards, I noticed a young boy. He was composed but appeared in much pain. The boy’s hands and face was coated with blood. His over-sized green ward drape also told of the horror………it was blood soaked. It was from-hell-and-back kind of an accident. Master’s hand appeared broken and nurses were busy strapping it. The boy cried. …..and cried……and cried…..and cried. I trained my camera ready to fire but before I released the shutter button, a casualty next bed hit a drip stand and before fell I went for it. 11 years-old Brian Odhiambo forgot about the pain the nurses were ‘adding’ and looked at me and he smiled amid much pain. I pressed the shutter….and again and again. I looked at the boy and he looked at him. I wept! Get well soon Brian.
