As I think about the next 48 hours before our son Chandler Potter - TopicsExpress

As I think about the next 48 hours before our son Chandler Potter leaves our tiny home in Marshfield for Parris Island Sc to start his new life as a US Marine, I am going to reflect on a few memories of Chandlers civilian life. Many of y know Chandler the racer but many of u dont know Chandler the young man. He is hard working, focused, dedicated, honorable, compassionate and has a great sense of humor. And by humor he thinks its funny to blow up spaghettios in the microwave. He has at least five tee shirts referencing boobies and he enjoys shooting at squirrels while sitting in his grandmothers rocking chair in the middle of winter. There are three things that are most important to Chan his family, baseball and racing. First and foremost is family. You will find him pictured below with the Martin side of the family. His best friend is his cousin Caleb in the bottom right and you can find these two boys glued at the hip most of the time. His sister Kayla, pictured in back second over from the right now lives in Portland Or. and is deeply missed. I never had to worry about her in high school because Chan would always text her to be sure she was home by curfew. Chandler lives all of his cousins both on the Martin side and the Potter side. Chandlers love for baseball started right from peewee all the way up to his senior year in high school. He has always played the position of catcher as he is pictured below. The highlight in his senior year was back to back home runs in two consecutive games. His coaches and Athletics Director thought he should be tested for steroids, lol. Finally Chans love for racing. Started as a wee boy driving kid karts at Rocky Ridge in Barre right to Kids trucks at WMMP and later transitioning to the Stricktly Stocks. This is where u will see his competitive and impatient side. With his dad Mike by his side they have built a bond that will last forever through the love of the sport. The number 23 has been in the family for well over three decades of racing, first at Thunder Road, Rocky Ridge and WMMP. The highlight was. chan wining a first ever track championship in the history of Potter racing. He accomplished this in 2012 as well as taking Rookie of the year. In closing there are so many people to thank at WMMP. Terri and Donny first and foremost. Your track is great fun and provides the racers with a fair and safe racing experience. Danny, great job coaching the kids in the kids trucks. Lastly to all the wonderful racers in the pits. Thank you for being so kind to our son. Elwin Sydney III for loaning Chan his car and enjoying Grammas donuts, to the Wheelers for keeping things interesting, to Mike Jurkowski and crew for all the help over the last couple years. It will be especially hard tonight knowing this will be Chandlers final race for a while but we will embrace the wonderful memories we have had at your racing facility. Good luck Chandler Potter and remember we love you. Mom and Dad
