As I was walking to my car to go home for lunch today I spotted two large, white, circle shaped objects on the Mundelein lawn, each about the size of a basketball. I walked up to them to inspect and saw that they were actually gigantic mushrooms. As I was looking closer one of the groundskeepers walked up and told me that these were puffball mushrooms and that they were edible. So I picked one, took it home, researched a bit, and then sliced some of it up, fried it in butter with an onion and ate if for lunch. My wife would not try, or let the girls try it. She would prefer to wait to see if I die in the next 24 hours first. Is anyone familiar with these things? The only YouTube recipes I found for this seem to suggest that this is the kind of mushroom that hillbillies cook in their garage while cussing and drinking beer. Perhaps its no truffle. Any recommendations on what to do with these?
