As I watched The Son of God last night a few things HIT me. I mean HIT me! Besides me crying through the whole thing telling Jesus how much I love Him...I began to see myself in the story. I saw myself in the woman thrown down in front of the crowd to be stoned. I felt her shame and unworthiness and how her tears fell as Jesus saved her and then bent over and kissed her forehead. I saw myself in Thomas who was so full of questions and doubt but how Jesus just loved him right where he was...and how Jesus kept proving himself to Thomas over and over. I saw myself in Peter as he said No Lord...I will never deny you..never turn from you..I would give my life for you. And knowing that Peter would fail, Jesus held him and kissed his cheek. How many times does Jesus kiss my cheek as I swear my allegiance to Him knowing that I will fail Him that day. BUT He loves me anyway. I saw myself in Judas. The pain in his eyes as he realized what he had just done. How he threw the money at the feet of the soldiers and said Take it back...take it back!! How many times have I realized my failures too late and am overcome with regret and sorrow. I saw myself in the eyes of Jesus as He said Forgive them Father and It is finished...because I watched Him die for me...He loves us to death...He loves us to DEATH...Thank you Jesus.
