As Ive written here before, the human species began in Africa a bit over three million years ago. When humans finally began to actually leave Africa around 150,000 or so years ago (if my memory is off a bit its not really relevant as far as 150-140 thousand years, etc. Its relevant as far as when it actually took place, of course, but my precise memorization of the exact number isnt as critical here is all I mean) we all, every single one of us, looked exactly like what black people look like today. That is our foundation, the way all humans began. Black people simply had ancestors that remained back in Africa. Okay, so what, no big deal. The reason we have different looks now is simply because of the different environments our ancestors traveled to and lived in. Some people stayed nearer the equator, and as a result their skin had to remain darker. This, darker skin, was/is very simply merely something that helps to protect you from the sun. If lighter-skinned people today moved much farther south their skin would begin getting darker too so as to protect them from the more intense, more direct-angled sun on their bodies. People with lighter skin have that because of ancestors that wound up farther north from the equator--there being more livable land far north of the equator and not as much land to allow one to go farther south from there. Nearer the equator meant more intense sunlight of course. So, all of the prejudice and suffering people with darker skin have went through for ages has to do with sun only. Its all really been a huge, tragic misunderstanding throughout our entire history. We all began exactly the same way and diverged in our outward appearances only after finally leaving Africa for other destinations; its really just that simple. Just because its simple though, that doesnt mean its a made up scenario. No, not at all. Its all quite true and is all so very, very interesting and fascinating to read about. Let me suggest a very good, recently written, book that you might want read. Its titled: Lucys Legacy: The Quest For Human Origins, and was written by the well known paleoanthropologist, Donald C. Johanson. Everyone remembers him as the discoverer of Lucy. If you love to learn youll find this book an absorbing, fascinating book. This book tells a huge part of the/our story and in it youll learn many things about our origins that youve very likely never heard anywhere else. Its one of those kinds of books that all would do well to read, not only for their own education, but for the over all benefit of society in that more and more of us would know the true picture, the true evidence that has been discovered regarding our origins here on Earth. If, as most do, you believe that God set up our Universe but then let evolution proceed as it will in a natural manner (the book doesnt go into God or His role in our evolution, but just sticks with the evidence uncovered for our origins), then youll want to discover what science has uncovered as far as (our) human origins and our progression throughout the last 3.4 millions years or so of Earths history. Fascinating, page-turning book, friends. Thank you very much. 10/27/2013
