As Vice-Chairman of the State Retirement and Pension Systems Board of Trustees, Im proud of the steps weve taken to preserve the long-term stability of Marylands pension system, which is so vital to the financial security of our states active and retired public employees. While there is still work to be done, as the author correctly notes, I believe that Board Chairman Nancy Kopp and our mutual colleagues deserve credit for guiding our system through a historic financial crisis, and ensuring that it is better postioned for success than it has been in years.
