As a WHITE parent of two BLACK children it has taken enormous self control today to not post my feelings on facebook. What has disappointed me more than anything is the religious leaders that I have followed in the past and their passive so called grace filled approach..and their need to offer their two cents on the situation. Had to unfollow some teachers whose first name starts with J and last name with P today so I did not lose my mind...and I am not even going to start on Jen Hatmakers commentary...her books are going in the fireplace tonight. Additionally.... it seems other white parents of black children feel the strong tug to side with Michael Brown just because they want to do whatever they can to support the black community because of some sort of guilt they harbor...regardless if it makes SENSE or not. They are willing to forego ANY talk of responsibility. I am sure I will lose no less than 50 friends tonight for this rant....but let me say this before you hit that unfriend option...yes Jesus died for sinners...yes I am a sinner...no.....I do not harbor ANY white guilt. I am white....but I am a member of the HUMAN race and if some 65 child threatened my right to life as an officer of the law and my sworn duty was to protect my community...I would have shot him as well..if he was white....black...or yellow...whether he wore a hoodie or speedos.... If the black community wants to protest peacefully because they feel the kid was killed because he was black...so be it. It is America. But the second white folks jump in and act like they are all that and a bag of chips...and they play the racism card....be aware that you are propagating your own type of racism. There is one race...the human race.....and the second you draw attention to any deficiencies or complaints and how they relate to skin color...you are part of the problem. Yeah....Ill be one of those escape theologians tonight and pray that the Lord come quickly. This stuff is for the birds.
