As a faculty member, its my pleasure to give tribute to our graduates, at the end of Shabbat. As we transition into a new week, we are also transitioning into a new life, graduates. And we salute our graduates—they are survivors! They have survived cold showers and colder winter vortexes...they have survived long days and brief sleep...they have been survivors of ambiguity...they are survivors of long readings and pop quizzes and mountains of homework... Yes, survivors, in every good sense of the word, however. All of these things are just the beginning of memories—these graduates are, in the words of Solomon, at the end of the matter, and each and every one is, in their own right, a conquerer. And now *is* the beginning of another thing. Graduates, remember that you can do all things through Christ. Remember, you have learned to be survivors and conquerers and you are now at another beginning; thus, it is appropriate to give tribute to you with a benediction: The Lord bless you, the Lord keep you, the Lord make His face to shine upon you as you begin *your* new beginnings.
