As a foretaste of this governments approach to services this is close to insane. 1. Post Offices these days are franchises. It would be entirely inappropriate for franchises to be handed Centrelink functions. its also an indication of the dont-give-a-damn attitude of this government towards welfare recipients. They do not care at all. 2. There are already long queues at Post Offices, often caused by one of the staff being tied up with a passport application, and/or another staff member dealing with a customer whos paying a whole lot of bills at once. At my small local PO at certain busy times there are already queues out the door onto the pavement, and at the larger PO where I must collect registered articles theres always a queue and a wait of 10 minutes isnt uncommon. Can you imagine the chaos if they were also dealing with benefits? It would be the worst kind of retrogressive step
