As a fourth generation Singaporean growing up in Kampong Glam, life was full of mixed cultural influences. Hidayah Amin had English tea at 4pm but with goreng pisang. Her birthday parties had balloons, cakes and also religious teachers to say prayers. Her family is just one of many families who have witnessed the country’s transformation through the ages.
