As a kid I never really picked up many books. Reading was for squares, losers, people who didnt watch movies at the theaters and play Yu-gi-oh. The amount of books I read in middle school and high school could, literally and unfortunately, be counted on my fingers. When we were assigned novels to read in school, sparknotes was my best friend. Nonetheless Ive always had a fascination with words though. I loved the way words sounded, especially when strategically placed in a creative order. I loved the mere fact that I can express myself through the power of these conjunctions of letters. It wasnt until recently that I really realized the deep value and importance of reading. Sometimes It just feels good to crack open a book and read, get carried away, and let your mind escape and sink into the fantasized reality youre diving into. You see the world through a different persons eyes. You observe and imagine through a telescope with a lens calibrated differently than yours. Ultimately you grow, you learn, and your vision expands. They say a picture is worth a thousand words - and while thats definitely true, a few words, if placed and said correctly, can paint a thousand pictures. The reason I write this lengthy status is because I would have loved for ignorant 12 year old Chafik to have stumbled across something like this and perhaps maaaaybe changed his mind about reading. So Im hoping this can either directly or indirectly influence someone to get their reading-game on! What if that someone ends up becoming a famous writer and author? Heck, who knows...? Everyone starts somewhere. Read, write, express, and imagine my dear Facebook friends. And when youre all done, repeat the cycle again and again and again. Until you hit that pot of gold, good night to you all. Chafik aka Chief Boa signing off!
