As a lover of language the Feminist Movement really agitates me, - TopicsExpress

As a lover of language the Feminist Movement really agitates me, not because I dislike women, no, I believe EVERY human deserves equal rights. I get frustrated because the movement took the word feminism, stripped it of its original meaning and made it a word of equality. We already had a word for The belief in equality among humans and its egalitarianism. So now instead of the spectrum of Masculism (The belief in male superiority), Egalitarianism, and Feminism (The belief in Female superiority) we now have three words that over time have come to mean the same thing. I could be wrong, and I want to know if I am, but I believe that words shape society in the same way society shapes language and I believe that having the prefix for women in a word that has come to mean equality is inherently unequal. But then I would also go so far as to say that the terms human and man are also unequal. But we also have words that work not as substitutes but fully functional parts of speech, like persons or individuals. I dont know, maybe Im dumb. Every time I hear someone say that feminism is not a belief that women are better than men I get a knot in my stomach because thats exactly what it meant before it was turned into a buzz word. Maybe, Im hooked on believing that the only way to be equal is to be same but perhaps another way is to be balanced. I dont know, Its 11:30 and Im a tad tired. I dont even know what started this post. Tell me how you feel, I AM CURIOUS!
