As a mormon I believe in religious freedom, or freedom of conscience. I believe that it is critical to the health of a diverse society and that it is a fundamental human right. At times, I can hardly stomach how it has recently become completely acceptable to malign those of the Islamic faith. The media reports on ISIS and the horrors of Sharia law, and soon everyone is an expert on this radically barbaric and cruel religion. If you want to counteract some of the hate narrative intended to fabricate a boogieman, expand central powers, and deter attention from the much needed cleansing of the inner vessel of government, watch the following speech. It is from mid 2013 but I have yet to hear a better argument against our generalizations.
