As a new club/committee a lot of discussion has involved terms such as Values, Mission & Culture and how do we create/develop these? So before we answer, let’s first get the views of a man that instils/educates such into our nation’s Military personal- SGT Jason Akarana (Akas) who will be On Board with us first training in Feb.... Culture is best defined as team values, philosophy, sociological norms and unwritten (or written) rules. Culture is developed when the organisation or team has sufficient shared history to form a set of shared assumptions. These assumptions are shaped further through individual and group behaviour and finally, best lead by a well defined influence (leadership). This is what I bring. For those that dont know me (and that will be a great many of you), I offer opportunity and will define a raft of challenges, that when overcome, will deliver success. Every team strives for success and this in essence is what will drive our sense of purpose....success will be subject to the established needs of the group. Essentially, what I will initially target, is to take something away from you. Fear.....Each of you will be surprised how subtle but all consuming this irrational human trait can be. Not believing and doubting your potential for success....thats a fear. I will strip this from the club once more, only if the WGFC decides to step this way. Juck has asked for some insight on my values. Without really knowing my journey over the past 9 years, he has stumbled across the one defining factor that translates into the success behind my empowerment strategies for Combat Forces; Here it is - P.R.I.D.E P - Preparation: Prepare well in the shadows for when the floodlight of battle is on you there is no doubt of your capability; R - Respect: In yourself, team, supporters and opposition. Lose respect and you lose your soul and will become vulnerable.....you will lose belief; I - Integrity: Accept responsibility for decisions right or wrong and earn respect. Lose integrity and the trust circle is broken; D - Discipline: Know the consequence, respect the consequenceand thereby shape your outcomes; and E -Excellence: Be brilliant at the basics. Nothing extravagant....workman like and professional. * Have PRIDE and you will Walk Tall, fail to achieve PRIDE and self doubt will present. That is all for now. Akas
