As a parent, you get to decide what is best for your child. They - TopicsExpress

As a parent, you get to decide what is best for your child. They may argue, whine, complain and roll their eyes, but it’s our job as parents to make decisions for them that they can’t or won’t make on their own yet. You make yourself do things every day that your kids wouldn’t do because they lack the self discipline and knowledge of what’s important. You also stop yourself from doing some things every day that you know you shouldn’t. They would be guilty of doing some of those things without our guidance. We know from our knowledge and wisdom that they shouldn’t do these things. We have to be their PARENTS, and not their friends. They are going to have many friends in their lives, but they only get 2 (or so) parents. I’ve been teaching for 30 years and we often see parents of broken homes trying to out-spoil the other parent or to use the child as a weapon to get back at the other parent. This is infuriating as the only real victim in these cases is the child.
