As a staunch Buddhist myself, I condemn this ignorant behavior. Ive educated my mom, a fellow Buddhist to never do it too. Only free wild animals from where they originally came from, not those meant to be food. Why? Theyre grown from taking food from humans = they dont know how to hunt at all. Furthermore, setting them free in the wrong environment cause them to die horribly. It may upset the ecology of the wrong environment. Some states in USA see snakehead fishes in their streams and lakes, upsetting the milder living creatures originally living there. Snakehead fish originated from China. Causing pain to living creatures unintentionally will reap poor karma too.
