As a teenager I got into metal/punk/hardcore. I loved that it was music that wasnt afraid to protest against the status quo but as I got older it seemed to me that alot of the artists I listened to were living in a very black and white world which I grew more and more tired of. My experiences and what I observed around me proved to me time and time again that the world was certainly not black and white. Then in my twenties I started getting into noise/PE etc. Here was music that was controversial but it always seemed to recognise that the world was never black and white and as such it also recognised that life and the world we inhabit was full of many ambiguities, for better or for worse. But what is really sad and why Ive wrote this shit is it seems there are a lot of artists doing noise/PE etc nowadays who live in a very defined black and white world and they are bringing all that crap with them into their work and expecting everyone else to tow their line or else and I for one do not like it.
