As always the next phase of any catastrophe of national level, be it natural, environment or terrorism, there are interesting outcomes and reactions from different groups, individuals and organizations. There are some people who immediately reach out to fundraising spree for unrelated things, e.g. someone gave a call for opening a school for Peshawar 144 victims, com’on do we really need more schools? How about the ones already there with no one to teach in them the ghost schools? How about all those teachers who take salaries and never go to schools? How about renaming some of these schools after the 144 victims, why fundraising. Then we have a whole lot of tech geeks activist, who with their expensive gadgets are online 24/7, keep changing their FB statuses and put up images and statements in solidarity, all the while sipping Tea, from the comfort of their homes. Then we have candle lighters everywhere, yes I agree beside showing solidarity candle light cast beautiful shadows on the faces that look awesome and makes great cover photos as well. Oh the most amazing are the political parties who come together all of a sudden instead of tearing each other apart and as if they needed the disastor to do so. Why were they waiting for something nasty to happen? And if their agendas are not fulfilled by this coalition they would revert back to drinking each other blood until the next disastor comes along. Then we have many many late office comers, or people who don’t find it fun to concentrate on their jobs anymore since they are so sad and devastated and fearful. Thus adding to the national damages fruther. To top it all up, there are family and friends in Amreeka and Lundun!! They give you frantic calls, texts and Fb messages telling how scared and worried they are ensuring they appear overly patriotic and as if no one ever is more hurt for Pakistan then they themselves, and tell you second hand, twisted and biased local media stories they heard as if you are not living in Pakistan and have no clue of what is happening in your own country. Their last visit to Pakistan might be in 70s or 80s. Ok what do you think we are doing here in this country and did not choose to follow you. If they are so patriotic why the hell they migrated . Instead of being and and proud of their foreign passports and IDS, they come contribute to this country and live here with all the catastrophe try to improve it and show your love. Another group ensure that they tell everyone that they have a loved one victimized in that disastor even if it is someone who is farthest relative of a casual friend, and you only came to know after the disastor. But their FB status would carry how devastated they are for that victim. Then there are ones like me, who observe all these happenings, sit and retort and feel full of remorse, and regurgitate their frustration in writing such acidic posts. Nothing of the above will solve the problem, nothing!! A country and society where law is not implemented strictly and is moulded and amended all the time, and disasters are opportunities for vested interest, will keep suffering and stay chaotic.
