As black people search for that American hero we can only wonder and search our minds about whom he is. We want him to charismatic, confident and humble. He represents the black community in a way we should represent ourselves. This person is a veteran in life, community and lives in the hearts of us all. He said he was not perfect but strives to be the best he can be every day. Even though is not looked at as a role model through the eyes of everyone he is probably the most important black person on this earth when it comes to standing the test of time in a profession that can make you and break you without notice. One who does not have to compromise his position when he goes to work because in the words of Frank Sanatra he did it his way. Even though I never met him and probably never will I can honestly say he is the reason I strive everyday to be the best person, mentor, educator and filmmaker I can be. Mr. Densel Washington Thank You For Being Our Heavy Weight Champ in an industry that offer us success on their terms.
