As harsh as the punishment may be on the girls who were caught tagging buildings in Detroit, and as butt hurt as you all may be about it... It saddens me that no one is taking time to see the light in the situation, and most are just blinded by the fact that a small issue is being resolved and not greater issues at hand. I also notice that most people posting these statuses are not natives to the city, and only come to the city for leisurely activities and are UNAWARE of all of the many city crack downs that have been occurring. Most of you claiming that big bad Dan Gilbert only cares about his precious buildings, dont know thats hes invested nearly millions of dollars into increasing the safety of the city. Most of you also dont know that he is the chairman of the Blight Removal that is drastically transforming rural Detroit areas and clearing out blighted homes that are responsible for 60% of 911 distress calls in the city. What I believe people are also forgetting, is that he is one person, and this city needs not only help from executives and government to rid itself of crime but it needs YOU. Stop coming here only to get loaded on the weekend and taking pictures of decay... Come here an volunteer and be involved in the transformation this city is trying to undergo. This city is not just going to fix itself, and if people want to just keep pointing fingers at the government and expecting results... Then they are part of the problem. The new Detroit is a city created and ran by the people who live in it, if you want to be a part of it, get in the city and make those changes yourself. So this one scenario made a headline, get involved in Detroit and you will see for yourself all the other headline worthy things that are happening here.
