As many of my friends know. I was blessed to have 3 grandads that were all Western Swing musicians.Grandad Pennington was a fiddle player and owned a dance hall on Magnolia in Ft. Worth called the Friendly club, for Many years. My Grandad Gidley was his guitar player .While one of the founders of the Light Crust Doughboys (Fred Pappy Calhoun) was his piano man.Anyway ,today Im over at Grandad Penningtons house finishing the last of an estate sale, since his death this past year. Theres an old reel to reel blasting out dance music from the friendly club.I was talking to a couple about an oven when I noticed that another couple that was there to look at a dryer , were dancing in the living room.. :) :) Many Many people have danced to these men over the years and that living room was no stranger to an impromptu roll back the rugs dance session its own self..,,I know theres some fine musicians up there that were looking down and smiling today...Me? I got a little Misty.. Feeling Blessed :)
