As many of you are aware the traffic has been really bad over the last few weeks since changes were made to the traffic light signalling - it seems that there was indeed an error made - below is the explanation that Helen Adams received from the Council which looks like the situation has been resolved - so hopefully we should see the difference from this Saturday onward!! Thanks Helen for the update. Ms Adams, I refer to your comments regarding the above junction which have been passed to me for attention. The junction was refurbished in September using the latest, energy efficient equipment. Unfortunately, shortly after the new equipment was commissioned, a couple of faults occurred with the detection which had the effect of constantly putting in a demand for the West Hill Way approach. Consequently, the West Hill Way approach would get a green signal every signal cycle, regardless of the actual demand on street, taking green time away from the other two (much busier) approaches of St Peters Way and St John Street, leading to the queues on St John Street. The fault with the detection has now been rectified and initial observations confirm that West Hill Way is now not being served spuriously. The time this frees up can be redistributed back to the busier approaches and I would expect that the queues and delays on St John Street should lessen considerably. I will keep the site under observation to ensure that the I would like to apologise for the problems you have been experiencing and hope that this information is satisfactory. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Bob Roth
