As many of you guys know, my SoundCloud account was deleted this week because I remixed Summer by Calvin Harris and Sony Music filed a complaint against me. Instead of having a conversation with me and my team, they unilaterally moved against me and deleted my account. Ive got a new account now, which you can find below (please do! follow me to get new music :) ) But what I want to tell you guys is that Im going to need your help, not only to get my followers back, but to help CHANGE the way SoundCloud does business and to help change copyright law around the world. Having made countless remixes and originals, I am a believer that appropriating vocals and other parts of songs and transforming them into new songs should be COMPLETELY LEGAL. From an artistic perspective making music that samples other music should be protected as Freedom of Speech, a universal right that all people deserve to have. I need your help! My team is contacting SoundCloud and a group of lawyers to make a legal argument for why remixing and sampling songs should be legal. Its going to be an uphill battle because record labels have almost infinite resources to stop the law from changing. So at certain moments Ill need you guys to rally around petitions and other drives to show that people want change. Are you with me!?
