As many of you know I am a full time student. I survive off of the G.I. Bill, Federal P.E.L.L. Grants and a student loan of which I must pay back once I graduate and begin to work after achieving my degree. Here is the dilemma. I have been “audited” by my school’s financial aid department to “verify” that I pay taxes and of all things, how much I pay in child support, I am not even sure what my child support situation has to do with school but o.k. This process takes 15-25 business days. It is literally 7 days; not business days, until classes start for me. I received an email 3 days ago; because apparently my STUDENT email is the most important one out of the standard personal email and business email that I use. Needless to say, my STUDENT email isn’t on my watch list although when you tell someone in the schools office that you “just” received an email that was sent to you over summer break to your STUDENT email while you were not attending school you are treated like you are being irresponsible because obviously during summer break, you should be checking your STUDENT email; nevertheless, according to the email I received the documentation I filled out was filled out wrong and I have to resubmit this documentation before the school will process my financial aid. I use this financial aid money to purchase the $400 of books and supplies I am required to purchase in order to attend classes. Now the school has told me I MAY have to wait until next term in order to take classes because they cannot guarantee me that they can process my financial aid in time. It isn’t only about books; I have many friends who survive on this money like I do. If I wait until the next term it will literally cost me $6,200 in moneys that I would receive to live on and do things like eat, pay my rent, put gas in my car, etc. And the lady on the other end of the phone couldn’t understand why I was angry? Ok, that’s my rant for the day. Have fun!!!
