As many of you know, my 9 year old son Mason fell from a ski lift on Tuesday. He was transported to UVA where they discovered a ligament tear to the C1/C2 (neck) area of his spine. He has no apparent loss of sensation or mobility, but due to the location of the tear and bone displacement, we will undergo more x-Rays and tests. He sat up yesterday and stood today so we are optimistic he is starting the long healing process. We hope to be discharged on Sunday in a neck brace and pray that he will heal on his own and avoid surgery or other more invasive treatments. The outpouring of love from friends and family has been overwhelming and gives strength to our family. Trish and I remind ourselves how lucky we are as it could be so much worse. We are also hugging each other a lot and thankful for all that God has given us.
