As many of you know, my dad (Jim Reaves) was diagnosed with Stage - TopicsExpress

As many of you know, my dad (Jim Reaves) was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer a little over 7 years ago. He fought that cancer with all he had and proved to the doctors that they were wrong when they told him he didnt have long to live. Three years ago he was diagnosed with another Stage 4 cancer that wasnt even related to the first one. Again, he fought it, and so far has defeated the odds again. These past 7 years have not been easy on him. He has endured severe pain, sleepless nights, and missing the things he used to love to do, like riding his motorcycle, fishing, and just goofing off. With his first cancer the tumors were wrapped around his spine. He underwent a 13 hour surgery to replace part of his spine with Titanium Rods, plates, and screws. So basically he is our bionic man ;) For the last couple of months he has not been feeling well at all. His lower back, legs, and feet have been really hurting. They went out to see my sister in Texas and had to cut their trip short because he was in excruciating pain. When they got home, his primary care doctor ordered a MRI to see if he was having Sciatic issues. He had the MRI on Thursday the 9th. Friday morning my mom gets a call and the nurse tells her that they saw something on the MRI and to take him to the emergency room. We took him up there and found out that he now has a large tumor on his lower back (L5) that is inside the bone, coming out around the bone, and encapsulating the nerves around the spine. He has been in the hospital since Friday and will be there till we figure out a plan of action. Tomorrow they are doing a biopsy to see if this is from one of the two cancers, or if its a new cancer. Once we get the pathology results back we will know more of what treatment options we should look at. They are wanting to do surgery to remove part of the outside tumor so they can release as many nerves as possible to give him physical relief and to help him not lose the feeling in his legs. We are waiting for the biopsy to be done first, and then they will talk surgery. Im posting this because I know a lot of my friends know my dad and mom well, and that the more people we have praying for him, the better!! Please keep my mom in your prayers too. This is hard on all of us, but God holds the future, and we want His will to be done. Love you all!!
