:: As many of you likely know by now, there has been unrest in between the Kor’Ani and the Klingons. The Kor’Ani (pictured here) are a Klingon-like species that resides on the other side of Klingon space. During the Dominion War, the Kor’Ani allied with the Klingons against the Dominion, and were integral in many battles against the Jem’Hadar and Breen. Since the war ended earlier this year, the Klingons have been downplaying the Kor’Ani contributions to the war, and taking credit for many of the victories won by the Kor’Ani. Chancellor Martok has been working to maintain peace between both empires, but the Kor’Ani are being pushed more and more out of the history books. The Kor’Ani have protested vigorously, but to no avail. The Federation views this as a Klingon matter, and has chosen not to get involved in Klingon politics. Nonetheless, after months of rising tensions between the Klingons and the Kor’Ani, a spark was lit today when a Klingon patrol vessel attacked a Kor’Ani diplomatic convoy. The Kor’Ani responded by declaring war on the Klingon Empire. All of this is happening on the other side of Klingon space; Starfleet does not have access to Kor’Ani territory, and maintains its neutrality. Nonetheless, two of our allies are now at war with each other. And unless peace is brokered soon, this could become a deadly full-blown conflict. Chancellor Martok does not support war with the Kor’Ani. Unfortunately, he is in the minority within the Klingon Empire. Most of the High Council stands firmly in opposition to the Kor’Ani, and plans to continue with these actions. Many Federation analysts believe this Klingon-Kor’Ani war stems more from Klingon bloodlust than any issue of Alliance contributions.
