As most everyone knows, Maureen has been fighting pancretic cancer for the last year and a half. This is the journal entry on Caring Bridge written by Charlotte Tolar yesterday. Trust in the Storm....Even when we try our best to fight lifes obstacles head on, sometimes the challenge is too overwhelming. Our dear friend Maureen is experiencing an intense battle right now. So as she is not able physically write in this journal, she has asked me to share an update about her condition on her behalf. In the last few weeks, the options for chemo have been fewer. She has been experiencing continuing debilitating digestive issues, reflux problems, intense abdominal pain and she has not been able to eat much. Therefore she has had rapid weight loss and is and is very weak and has no energy. Maureens condition is declining steadily. She has had multiple infusions and then has to have fluids drained. The decision for future chemo is being discussed and she may still try it a little longer. Her husband James, her doctor, and close friends have been very supportive of her as she has had to wrestle with the choice to continue chemo or make the decision to elect hospice. At some point she will go into the hospice program. None of us can truly know the difficulty of what she is going through unless you have experienced it yourself. Maureen is a strong determined fighter...You know her story...you have been following her progress all along...you have shown her great love through your comments, your thoughts and prayers which are greatly appreciated. But as much as she would like to write in her journal personally...receive your phone calls and visit with each of you, she is not able. So she knows you will understand if she doesnt receive visitors. But now she and James need the best gift you can give them...your preyer support..to intercede to the lord on her behalf to give her wisdom, direction, and real peace in her heart about her decisions...to give James a tremendous amount of strength as the continue this journey of their lives... Maureen wants you to know that God has been faithful to them and ...James has been an example of love, kindness and devotion that I could only hope for in a husband. I will continue to provide updates so please continue to check the journal,express your wonderful comments and well make sure she gets them...and most importantly pray, and remember her as you go through your day...
