Indefinite Life.. Lets look at the time frame ... If we have the capability for indefinite life, then time would have a different meaning.. Theres no doubt in my mind that we may have to be accommodated in a hard shell, kind of like robocop, but that would only be a temporary affair while we perfect the return to a human-like host. I guess, having perfected our artificial senses, linked to our emotional responses, but with immense improvements in all aspects, we could return to a somewhat human host. Time is everything. However, I also think about the time that we may spend in a hard shell. How would that change us? Would that desensitized us towards emotions? Towards feeling complex sensations? Towards reducing the sense-emotional feedback response? Or will we develop other, new capabilities that we have not discovered hitherto? For example, there have been discussions about the sixth sense for a long time. We may even be able to actualize this. Telepathy... If augmentation is successful, imagine having wireless communication that is routine between augmented individuals. How difficult is that? All we require is the necessary technology for Bio-electronic connections. Such that the brain centers that are involved in conceptualizing and formulating language, such as brocias and wernickas lobes, could be directly linked to an augmentation that is responsible for wirelessly transmitting that information to others with such a capability, or the future version of the world wide web. The areas of the brain that are responsible for articulation of our thoughts, such as our motor-neuron cortex may be circumvented. Obviously, the necessary precautions for encryption and de-encryption would be requisite. In this respect, individual growth through information acquisition would be exponential due to the ease of access. Auto-download or upload modes could be further securitised for safe access and retrieval. Learning would only be limited to your ability to retrieve and analyse information. The potential implications are exponential. No doubt, there are massive ethical implications. And, Im sure many would be fundamentally against such advancements, primarily due to the immense insecurities they may induce; largely from those who many not be able to acquire such abilities, or those that are religiously inclined to oppose such progress. But, the world moves on, and we eventually learn to adapt to our new realities. Wouldnt this change the processes involved in communication entirely? No more gadgets, since everything could be built into our brains... Want to share thoughts? ?? Lets link our brains.. Literally.!! What would love be like then? Trust? The future is ours....
