As of 0830 local time, Israels attack on Gaza has killed 205 Palestinians and wounded 1,530, acc. to MoH ( Fb.me/7jVgeOmMG). Yesterday, the first Israeli was killed by a mortar shell. Overnight, the Israeli military launched another wave of strikes, targeting a number of homes. The latest UN OCHA briefing, as of 1500 yesterday (15 July), gave a figure of 1,370 homes destroyed or severely damaged - and also said that 77% of fatalities were civilians. This morning, Human Rights Watch have accused (bit.ly/1smBkBz) Israel of conducting illegal attacks on Palestinian homes in Gaza, and notes that deliberate violations are war crimes. A senior HRW official added: Israel would never accept an argument that any Israeli home of an Israel Defense Force member would be a valid military target. In addition, the Red Cross yesterday said that hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza Strip are without water. Israeli NGO BTselem confirmed 34 children killed (by evening of 14 July), including eight victims under 6-years-old. Finally, as the IDF warns residents of areas of the Gaza Strip to leave, a coalition of NGOs notes that this development raises concerns of extensive mortal harm to civilians & damage to property (bit.ly/1qDolHx).
