There are a few universally recognised principles of journalistic ethics. One of those principles is that posting pictures or videos of recognizable dead bodies is in poor taste. As I understand it, this principle exists for the following reasons: 1. The publication of these videos or pictures add nothing to the value of information, victims are more appropriately identified by name in text. 2. The visual impact on the recipients of these videos/pictures can and have in the past resulted in nervous shock. Nervous shock can lead to more grave psychiatric illnesses such as post traumatic stress disorder. Quite often loved ones and friends need time between hearing the news and seeing the horrors of the accident in order to better cope; the concurrence of these two things may obviously aggravate the impact. 3. There is a tacit disrespect in such publications, both of the victim and of his/her friends and family. It is impossible in such circumstances to know if the victim would have consented to the result of the accident being shown. It should be presumed by any journalist that the victim would not have consented , given the points made above. Having said all this, someone please tell me how to report the video. Rest in Peace Chris, I didnt know you well but I knew you, you sat across the poker table from me on more than one occasion and were always a friendly and respectful individual.
