As of 2pm today we are now responding to a Flash Flood Event in the Panhandle area. A large rain shield continues to drop copious amounts of rain across the Florida Panhandle as it slowly progresses eastward and southward throughout the day. Flash Flood Watches and Warnings are in effect for several Panhandle counties. Some places are reporting up to 22 inches of rainfall over the last 24 hours, and an additional 3-5 inches of widespread rainfall will be possible today with locally heavier amounts between 6-8 inches. In addition to the flash flood risk across Northwest Florida, some storms embedded within the main line of storms have the potential to be severe with frequent lightning, gusty winds, isolated tornadoes and waterspouts. Residents across North Florida are encouraged to monitor weather conditions throughout the day as potentially dangerous weather moves through. Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties have had significant and profuse amounts of rain which are now making its way across North Florida. We are in contact with our state and other partners to access and prepare to respond in the coming days as needed. We ask that you pray for these who already had to confront the flooding and be on standby to respond as the needs develop.
