As of today, Sunday 8/17/14, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $13.3 million compared to $1.7 million during the same time period last year. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within 2-5 years of diagnosis. There is no cure. Unfortunately, my family watched my cousin, Steve, suffer and pass away from this horrible disease. Thanks to Arita Tylec for nominating me. I challenge Robin Dawson Ondek, Marie Jackson, and Karol Sidorowicz Gabriel to make a donation and provide us some entertaining videos. This ones for you, Steve Marino! #icebucketchallenge #alsicebucketchallenge #strikeoutals
