As our family and extended family gathered in Slidell this past - TopicsExpress

As our family and extended family gathered in Slidell this past week for the funeral of my father Harry Spence we were comforted by the prayers and the kind words of many and from the excellent services of Honaker Funeral Home and the members of Dads church, First United Methodist Church of Slidell (Dad was an active member for over 80 years). For the Spences I wish to thank all of you for your prayers and those who attended the Thursday night wake and the Friday morning funeral services, we are all grateful and appreciative of the respect shown to my father. A special thanks goes to Central Louisiana Electric Company (CLECO) who on their own accord arranged a special honor by placing 2 bucket trucks to arch across Front Street with a banner between them on the funeral route to the cemetery carrying Dad through Slidell one last time. The trucks were located at the original ice house where my father worked as a teenager, the same location where electrical service was introduced in Slidell, and where my father joined the US Navy in WWII (photo attached). This was to honor Dads more than 40 years working for CLECO, a fine honor indeed. Dad was proud to have his family be a part of Slidells history.
