As parents and players we must remember that the coach does what he/she does for a living. It is their profession. No coach will jeopardize the their career because they want to play the less talented player for favoritism. This is a non winning mentality on the part of the player and/or parent. Coaches play the best players, period. Its how they keep food on their table. Understanding what BEST means can help how you approach your sport. Best refers to talent, production, reliability, but MOST importantly LEADERSHIP. These are all measurable traits just like your 40 yard dash time and weight lifting numbers. Your ability to take orders, accept orders, and react accordingly (working harder on deficiencies) will help your chances of playing time way more than assuming there is an ulterior motive (favoritism) for your position on the team. Coaches love YES SIR, NO SIR/YES MAAM, NO MAAM athletes. If you do things with all your might then you are on the right track, in sport AND in life. Be blessed with a winners mentality.
