As part of the mitigation, should the City of Tampa ultimately destroy the Bro Bowl, they are requesting public input as to what would be suitable to make up for the loss of this historic resource. The State of Florida has recommended that historic markers be placed to commemorate the Bowl and other historic elements of Central Avenue, the creation of a museum documenting the development of the history of skateboarding in Tampa (much like Florida Skateboard Museum) and developing displays using material from the scanning of the original Bowl. Beyond this, popular options include, but are not limited to: requesting that the replica of the Bowl (as well as the other added skateboard amenities) remain free, ride-at-your-own-risk,unfenced, and unsupervised, the space around the replica be maintained as a shaded, open green space with benches and BBQ grills, a modern facility be added in addition to the replica, and that the City specify that the new facility be protected from any threats of destruction from future development. Please contribute your opinions and ideas to Dennis Fernandez by June 5th, as that is the proposed deadline for public input. Thank you once again for your support of this ongoing effort to commemorate Tampa skateboardings history as well as provide for its future. From the City of Tampa website: PERRY HARVEY SR.
