As per my earlier announcement, I am (actually a bit sad to say!) NOT re-running to be NUS Scotlands Womens Officer at our conference on April 11th. Ive had the most incredible year building relationships with other womens organisations, working with women officers and womens officers, fighting for better childcare options, telling the government to sort out how postgrad funding is allocated, shouting about the gendered nature of investment into apprenticeships and so, so much more. The most exciting thing about this job is also the most depressing - there is always something new to get your teeth into. At conference well elect not only the new Womens Officer but also, the committee which will hold her up when shes tired, will support her when shes out for a fight, will challenge her decisions to make sure shes at the top of her game and who will have her back for the year. I hope against hope that my replacement is blessed with a committee as bright, dedicated and passionate as mine has been. Do these attributes sound like a woman you know? Tell her she should stand. If anyone would like to chat about what the role involves, drop me a message or an email - [email protected]
