As promised we are introducing Stevie Brown, the 9 week old - TopicsExpress

As promised we are introducing Stevie Brown, the 9 week old special needs spanial ? mix. This little guy was brought to our attention by one of our fosters after she was contacted to help with a stray that had given birth. The story varies but as we know it several of Stevies siblings died early on thru illness or trauma inflicted by other animals as mom gave birth outside and alone. The remaining pups were fostered and our foster has stepped up to help. The litter was split among two rescues as unfortunately HSTV had neither the building kennel space or available fosters. That left Stevie plus two (his siblings have a different daddy, they are smooth coated) Stevie was just recently diagnosed with Glaucoma in one eye, it is suspected to be injury related. As you can see in the pictures his eye is greatly enlarged and quite painful. From our vets: Today we injected his eye with an antibiotic called Gentocin. In addition we added some steroids to control the inflammation. We also withdrew a small amount of fluid to lower the pressure in that eye. The antibiotic will decrease the fluid producing tissue in the eye hopefully preventing the return of the increased pressure in the eye. It may work and it might not but it will give him some relief from the intense pain and a chance to grow before we remove the eye, if that becomes necessary. The little guy was neutered at this time so he would not face repeat anesthesia at his young age... Dr Hackett What do we ask of you? Stevies case falls under the medical fund, money set aside for those special needs that regular donations and adoption fees do not cover. This fund is dangerously low, which will force us to turn away the next Stevie. Stevies bills as of now are around $200 with an anticipated $600 surgery if the eye does not stabilize. We are hoping for donations to replenish the fund, in case Stevies eye requires removal or the inevitable next urgent needs dog that comes along. This fund covers injury, illness, Heartworm treatment and more. No funds then we must say no to helping. Click Donate in the upper right hand corner, click quick give, hit the drop down box and pick medical fund to help us help the Stevies in need. humanesocietytennessee/ Thank you, HSTV and the Stevies of the world. **Stevie will not be adoptable for a few weeks while we monitor and treat his condition. If you are interested in possibly fostering Stevie, his siblings or our many other pups in need please email Bethcs4040@gmail For a foster application and info.
