As sad as the news of Robin Williams suicide is...we must be careful of glamorizing his death. Mental instability and disease is all around us. Someone very close to each of us, this very day, may have considered taking their own life. When those who are on that edge read that Williams is free now...and happy and in a better place...they may YEARN for that very same relief. There HAS TO BE another way out. They need to know that theyre not alone and can GET HELP. I read somewhere today that suicide doesnt kill one man. It kills mankind. It may free the one who takes their life from the demons they face every day, but it creates a prison for those left behind. A prison of what-ifs. I am not in any way PRETENDING to know what he was going through, and it breaks my heart that he felt this was his only way out. I just dont want others who are struggling with this disease to feel like they need to do the same thing to be free. Look around you tomorrow. Be kind. Share a smile or maybe even a hug or kind word to those around you. You never know when YOU could change someones course. Be a light. An anchor in their storm.
