As some of the community may all ready be aware Defiance were involved in a major incident at the Millennium Series Ltd Campaign Cup event on Thursday. We had booked to train at the site at 4.30pm against Razorback, this went well and we thank the guys from France for the field time. However after we had finished the team were in the pit area under one of the gazebos when two of the event set up crew fell from a large palletised box which was raised high above the pit above us on a telescopic forklift. The team had no warning before both of the guys and the large box itself crashed through the gazebo injuring both the set up crew members and some members of the team. We still have had no explanation as to why or how this incident was allowed to happen as Millennium are only saying they are investigating, we do know members of the set up management team were suspended alongside the forklift driver after the incident. Ben from our team was struck on the back of the head and suffered concussion and shock, some other members received minor injuries but also were warned they may experience shock or post traumatic stress later on. We are thankful that all involved parties were not more seriously injured in the incident and thank the people who have expressed concern after hearing about the event. We are in the process of reporting the incident to HSE and both the team and Ben are seeking legal advice on how to proceed.
