As someone far more clever than me remarked, this could give a whole new meaning to the term gay-dar. But seriously folks, this legislative document specifically limits the rights of people who are transgendered, and with enough leeway (not a big reach, given the Putin Administrations history with regards to GLBT rights) could further restrict the rights of the entire Russian GLBT community. Historically, the more the Russian government limits the rights of LGBT people, the more the level of hostility and intolerance toward LGBT people by the general Russian population rises, as do the number of violent hate crimes committed against LGBT people. I hope we have learned at least this from history: THERE IS ALWAYS A PRICE FOR TOLERATING INTOLERANCE. Lets all work towards stamping out intolerance, here and abroad.
