As the Holy Month of Ramadan arrives, my thoughts go to these conflict zones and especially to Afghanistan. Afghanistan – the country of my birth where the pain and agony of the silent populations is now unbearable, where socio-economic corruption is institutionalized, where hypocrisy is sold as democracy, where destruction of the cultural fabric of the society is sold as freedom and modernity, where moral bankruptcy is sold as religion, where human value is reduced to a few bucks after their bodies are brutally torn to pieces by air raids of NATO liberators and by local IED’s. - Ahmad Duranai
